Capacity

“Give it everything you’ve got. I’ve told you many times, ‘Can’t do is like Don’t Care.’ Neither of them have a home.”
― Maya Angelou

“Know your capacity before you help others, and as you help others out there, do not forget to ask for help where you need it as well.”
― Gift Gugu Mona

I “must” make time in my life to keep my commitments. We only have a certain amount of time in each days cycle, and I get to choose how I allocate my certain amount of energy in those days. How I choose to allocate my energy will show overtime what my priorities were/are, and how much they actually mattered to me.

With that said, I had a WONDERFUL time telling people in real life what I now find to have no capacity explaining! Haha!
It’s the topic I have outlined in my draft *that was supposed to be todays post* and it will just have to come out Thursday because I want to do it justice and it requires more of me than I currently have to give.

So, I will take the words of one of my favorite quotes and apply it.

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.”
-E.E. Hale

Just because I cannot adequately express upon what consumed my mind today and took up hours of outlining in my drafts, doesn’t mean I can’t give something REAL still.
That will ALWAYS be a requisite for anything published. I have to have capacity to write it, and I have to mean it.
I’m banking that “you” (the reader) will intuitively sense the substance found in a genuine prompt, and will keep coming back for more.

So what on earth did I spend my day learning more about and sharing with my best friend over the phone and my family around the dinner table tonight?

YOU GUESSED IT!

The 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics!
Isn’t that riveting!!!!
*I’ll try and convince you Thursday why it really is one of the coolest things I’ve ever understood and the real life implications of it as a provable fact*

AND THAT’S ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT FOR NOW.

While on the topic of capacities, thermodynamics and my commitment to writing…. (All totally related stuff)

I had a cool idea today that the laws of thermodynamics inspired me to do with the people who live in my home with me.

1) Send my kids out each day with a “thought of the day” prompt. Maybe a visual aid, quote, question, challenge…etc.
I tried it today. I sent them each the picture posted at the top of this article. I typed the words: “a friendly reminder” in front and said nothing more. I REALLY like how it felt. I liked putting intention into what my children are exposed to and being a source of good information for them. Even if it’s just me passing along someone else’s good info. Who cares! Good is good is good is good! Truth is truth is truth is truth…No matter the source!

2) Ask my partner a “question of the day” for the days she is at work. Again, I’m using smart tools here and pulling my one question a day from Esther Perels card “game” titled: “Where do we begin?”
-It is essentially categorized questions/prompts/open ended statements that help us understand ourselves and others better.

I’m SO excited to incorporate these two new challenges! I’ll be nice to myself and give the old “if you are doing your goal 80% of the time, your crushing it” handicap and I’m ready go!

I like to have a few “commitments/goals/disciplines/challenges/improvements/projects” I’m working on at all times. It gives my ADHD brain something meaningful to do and focus on. Also! When I do these esteem-able acts, I feel more self esteem. (Imagine that!)

Thanks for stopping by. Now I just want to go watch a show with my girl, wind down, fall asleep with a book running through my one airpod, (as if I’ll learn something subconsciously while I sleep) and call it a day.

*A really terrifically inspiring AND tiring day. ❤️

Sending my last bits of love to you.
and receiving whatever comes back from it.

-Aubrey.
